WHY THE HP SERIES?
Sound
The Roland HP Series are driven by the immensely powerful SuperNATURAL Piano Modelling engine. SuperNATURAL has featured inside many of Roland’s previous Digital Instruments and has become one of the most desired sound engines on the market. The HP series takes the technology even further, including the most sophisticated generation yet.
By incorporating modelling technology, Roland has been able to make the Digital Piano feel much more like an acoustic. Due to the level of detail inside SuperNATURAL Piano Modelling, Roland has studied and recreated even the most minute sonic characteristics of an Acoustic Piano. The sound engine allows the piano player to perform exactly as they would on an Acoustic, as the HP Series behaves in the same way.
To bring out the detail of the sound engine, the HP range is fitted with premium speakers, amplifier systems and features 3D Headphone Ambience. The HP704 uses a technology called Acoustic Projection to accurately build the same “wall-of-sound” as an acoustic upright. It consists of an x4 multispeaker configuration and is more powerful than the x2 speaker setup in the HP702.
An Acoustic Piano will naturally project different harmonics from specific parts of its cabinet and frame, which is what gives an Acoustic Piano its character. Acoustic Projection splits the harmonic elements of the sound engine across its speakers to match this experience. 3D Headphone Ambience ensures you experience the same depth of field as the speaker system when using headphones.
The HP Series even feature dual headphone ports, meaning two users can use their own pairs of headphones simultaneously. This is a perfect tool for piano players to perform/rehearse duets and teach without disturbing anyone around them, even late into the night.
Feel
The HP Series offer two choices of key actions, both fitting the needs of any level of pianist. The premium PHA-50 action that is included on the HP704 is a hybrid wood action, featuring individually weighted ebony/ivory feel keys, escapement and stabilising pins.
The hybrid keys have wooden components and a textured composite to achieve the same feel as ebony/ivory. Escapement allows for a second key pivot point to perform trills or quieter dynamics and the stabilising pins prevent any unwanted lateral movement. The more affordable action that comes with the HP702 is the PHA-4, featuring individually weighted ivory feel keys and escapement.
Both key actions offer perfect balance and allow users to perform in any dynamic range they desire. The partnership between the sound engine, speaker system and action create a phenomenal piano playing experience, suiting any level of proficiency.
Elegant Looks
The aesthetics of the HP Series are certainly something to be admired, both playing beautifully and adding a touch of sophistication to any room. The quality of the materials used within the cabinet, wide array of finishes and award-winning design lineage create a truly premium instrument. The HP Series inherits many of the design cues from the flagship LX Series and are available in the following colour options:
- Roland HP704: Polished Ebony, Charcoal Black, Dark Rosewood, Light Oak and White.
- Roland HP702: Charcoal Black, Dark Rosewood, Light Oak and White.
Modern Technology
With the Roland HP range, you can bring the experience of learning, performing, practising and recording to the future with the use of groundbreaking wireless technologies.
Each model in the Roland HP range includes Bluetooth MIDI and Bluetooth Audio. Bluetooth allows the wireless connection between an HP Series Piano and your preferred Smart Device. With Bluetooth Audio, you can wirelessly stream music to the speakers/headphones of your HP Piano and play along with your favourite music.
Bluetooth MIDI integrates with a wide variety of apps for a multitude of uses. Learning, Score Writing, Games, Recording, playing additional sounds (Soft Synths/Virtual Instruments) or playing along to Rhythmic Accompaniments is all possible with Bluetooth MIDI. Roland has also created their own apps to utilise this technology, including Piano Every Day and Piano Designer.
Piano Every Day is a free app where users can keep a practice diary, song learning tool and user interface for the piano. You can use PED to master a song in a week, receive alerts/reminders to practice and store automated recordings of your practice sessions for later review. The app will also provide player feedback and song suggestions, as well as access manuscripts found on Sheet Music Direct and the internal songs.
Recording your piano can be a frustrating, expensive and time-consuming experience. With the Roland HP Series, you can record the audio or MIDI of your performance with just one USB cable (sold separately) connected to your computer. Each HP Series piano comes with a built-in USB Audio/MIDI interface, making a recording to your DAW a cinch.
